Website launch checklist

You’ve done the utmost to get your website ready to be launched. But before you request it to go live, there are several things you need to (double) check. Even though some of these might not apply to your situation, please revise the following;

#1 Make sure all the pages that are not relevant to your country (f.e. specific services and/or products you don’t sell) are not included in the menus. Also, make sure these page are set to invisible or private, so Google will not index them.

#2 Edit the Meta titles and meta descriptions on all pages (it’s under the Yoast section on each page), since these texts are the first that one will see when visiting the site via Google.

#3 Make sure the permalinks (the url of the page) is also set in your own language. It should more or less be the same as the title of the page. This also shows in the Google results, so it should be immediately clear to the visitor what the page is about. You can change the (standard) permalink on the top of each page in the back end.

#3 Update the contact page with all the proper (contact) information specific to your country, being the (physical) address, Google Maps location, contact email address etc.

#4 Update the content that’s related to the Sales contact in the call to action part on the footer (including the image)

#5 Configure the forms settings, so the proper people within your organisation will receive alerts once a form is submitted.  Also all the translations should be taken care of. Also, check the confirmation pages and/or texts one sees after the form has been submitted. The forms you need to check are:

  • Contact form
  • Newsletter subscription
  • Call me back form

#6 Don’t forget about the small things, like;

  • translating the menu items in the footer
  • the social icons on the bottom right on the footer

#7 You need to translate the cookie consent (it’s in Website options > Cookie consent), both the text and the button-texts, as well as the privacy policy page. Make sure it’s specific for your country/website.
