Copy content from the master website
It is possible to copy the content of any post type from the Master website to a country website. This means, if you need the content of a Master page, news item, activity, product, case, document or job, you can go to the master website to copy it to you country website.
What you should know before copying
What can be copied
All data of the following post types can be copied form the master website to you country website, with a few exceptions. The exceptions will be summarised below.
- Posts (news)
- Pages
- Activities
- Products
- Services
- Cases
- Documents
- Jobs
Exceptions
The following field types need manual action after you’ve copied a page. This is because the content of the fields are based on the content of your own country website and don’t necessarily match the content of the master website. You can use the master site as an example or choose the content for the field that matches your wishes.
- Fields with urls to pages within the TSG website; all fields with a link to a page within the TWG website are changed, to prevent urls that link to the master website instead of your own country website. The link is replaced with a hashtag (#). Please change the hashtag to the correct url within your own country website.
- Fields that link to other content in the country website; all fields that link to content in the website will be blank. You will have to select the corresponding content in you own country site. Examples of this are related products, related cases, a contact form, etc. It is not possible to know what the corresponding content is when the copy is made. So for this reason you will have to select the content yourself.
Copy content from the master website
To do this you can perform the following steps:
- In the top bar navigate to
My Sites > Master website - Navigate to the post type you want to copy the content from. For instance ‘Pages’.
- From the post type overview, select the post you want to copy by selecting the checkbox in front of the title.
- Go to ‘Bulk actions’ above or below the list of posts and select
Copy selected post to COUNTRY. You will see all sites where you can edit content. This might only be one site, or more. - Press the
Applybutton next to the Bulk actions selector to start the copying process. - When you get a success notification, head over to your country site and visit the post type overview of the same post type, in this case Pages.
- You will see the copied page in the list wit the status
Draft. - You can now update the content of the copied post to translate it and check some specific fields. When the page is as desired, you can publish it.
If you want to copy multiple pages at once, simply select more pages in the page overview before going to Bulk actions. It will copy all selected pages to you country website.
